I set this up on Windows 10 for a customer and something happened that caused their PC to crash then after that Windows 10 kept trying to repair but never could. A similar thing with a couple of Windows 7 64 installs. Blue screen then system insists on repairing.

This happened today when I tried an upgrade from 3.3 to 3.4. The program said I had to stop the cache then uninstall. It was when uninstalling that I got the blue screen. PC currently doing system restore.

MaxVeloSSD is incredibly fast but too unreliable to leave on a customer's PC. Unless anyone has some suggestions to make it more solid.

Windows 10 19H1 ( 10.0.18362.239 ) will reject older drivers. You will need to use versions:
MaxVeloSSD 3.4 ( current )
VeloSSD 3.1 ( current )
VeloRAM 3.1 ( will release 9th or 10th September 2019 )

Although the older versions are correctly signed they will be rejected by Windows 10 19H1 ( as far as our tests proved ) .

The quality of the software itself is not the point as far as we see it. It is the cryptographic signature that is put into it as a requirement
by Microsoft Windows 10 19H1. If this version in not supported by the signature then the OS will not load it.

It seems to be a bug in the OS because it accepts the installation of the drivers and then rejects to load them.

No the problem was that I stopped MaxVelo and it crashed. Any sort of unexpected shut down seems to cause file system corruption and a MaxVelo.sys blue screen. The computer is totally borked but that's not the point because I can clone it back off another hard drive (Macrium Reflect). The point is I don't want this happening to my customer. They will likely abuse the PC and expect it to recover. With MaxVelo it does not recover.

I need to try maybe write-through caching or something to make it more resilient.

This is the fastest caching I've seen but it's not safe enough for me at the moment. Let's improve it please.

I am still fighting this problem on aother computer. I can't uninstall MaxVeloSSD because it blue screens near the beginning of the uninstall. I can try from the Elitebytes menu in start or I can do it from control panel programs, both blue screen. Does the same in safe mode. I have deactivated the cache, I have tried with and without the SSD drive connected.

Hello.

I have the same issue with maxvelo ssd version 3.3.0.3.

After stop the cache, and try unistall the program, appears the Blue Screen. And does the same in safe mode.
I reinstall windows from old backup, and I have again the version 3.3.0.3 of Maxvelo ssd installed from this backup, but I can´t unistall Maxvelossd because appears allways the Blue Screen.

I have customers machines with v 3.3.0.3 and the 3.4 version. Both are working well. The problem seems to be when trying to remove the old version to install the new version. After failing twice to do this I have left one machine with the old version. The other machine I was able to clone again from an earlier hard drive when I had not installed MaxVelo. A clean install is fine.

I think the problem is that what is held on the HDD is incomplete and requires the MaxVelo driver to pull some files off the cache.
Thinking this is the reason for all of my previous problems I have switched it to write through cache meaning data is saved directly to the HDD. The speed ups will only be when files are read.

I don't think this compromise is noticeable because windows does have some caching of it's own but it should prevent loss of data and corruption which is totally unacceptable.

You need to make totally sure you have removed caching before removing the driver. There will be a reboot after that. Then when you uninstall the software you will probably get a bluescreen anyway. After that the computer will need to repair itself which takes time. This happened a few times when I was experimenting. When it happened on Windows 10 the system was too corrupted to recover but on Windows 7 it came back to life. I think what we need is an actual tool or procedure capable of removing this driver without the bluescreen.

Yes.

I had already done everything he said (remove cache, restart and uninstall later), but at the time of uninstalling the blue screen is displayed. And How I have windows 10 I have to reinstall the last backup because the system does not start later.

I think too what we need an application to be able to uninstall without showing the blue screen.

Hello, we are reproducing and have bettered the software. We plan to post binaries and setup on September 25. You should not tweak in any way as this could potentially mess things up.

Hello bodo,

That's good news. I believe what we need is a TOOL to remove the old software.

Thanks,
Wayland.

Hello Wayland,
>I believe what we need is a TOOL to remove the old software.
that's what the app did in earlier versions . A bug ( that is removed with Setup 3.4.1 ) broke that functionality.

A standalone tool would need to start off some Windows RE Stick, do I understand you correctly ?
We think it is a good idea to have such a tool. Cleans a PC off any remnants. Easy.
Windows RE is different from Windows and will need source code to be reworked on to work properly.

Can not say yet if or when this will be available.
MaxVeloSSD Setup Version 3.4.1 will be available September 25.

Intructions on how to manually remove from inside Windows RE also.

Recommended way, Generic way to remove the cache. I have understood that there is/was a problem with blue screen on deletion of the cache.

Hello, the 3.4.1 Setup is online in the download section. I have made some videos and put them online. However one video that demonstrates technique to manually remove the cache Offline is not posted. But I am not daring to post it because it contains some otherwise not available information that is security relevant and could be harmful. It shows how to boot Windows RE, import a Registry hive and delete carefully selected items in that hive. Afterwards releasing the Reg Hive Sub Tree ( writing it to the host file system ) and reboot the Host without the blue screening driver being loaded. It is reality heavy proven technique and could help other ppl having blue screen problems with ( other ) drivers. What do you think, could one be sued for posting such a video ?

Hello bodo,

Thank you for this. My problem was the upgrade from 3.3 to 3.4 required an uninstall of 3.3 before the 3.4 would complete. The uninstall caused a blue screen. It's probably better for 3.3 not to tell people about 3.4 because there was really no advantage to upgrading anyway, it just trashed the system.

If this new version can be un-installed or upgraded without a blue screen then that is probably all I need.

Thanks,
Wayland.
