Frequently Asked Questions.
General SSD
1. Data Safety. Is my Data on the SSD safe ?
When the SSD S.M.A.R.T Status goes bad your Data is defintely no longer safe at all.
A 100% Data loss is typical for SSD´s.
Typically the computer BIOS will display a warning when turned on. Looks like this:
SATA Port 6 : *SSD product name*
S.M.A.R.T Status Bad, Backup and Replace
When the SSD goes bad when online, the Computer will freeze / stall.
This may happen a couple of times before the SSD fails finally.
2. Is my Data safe with Elitebytes caching Software ?
Our software is designed to behave properly when SSDs fail.
Since this can happen anytime, the Data on host HDD is always being held consistent / intact.
If you encounter BIOS warning, it is really time to replace the SSD.
You will need to pull the defective SSD from the computer and replace it with any other SSD real soon.
Then simply setup the cache on the replaced SSD just like on the one before.
With Elitebytes caching you will not loose your data when the caching SSD finally fails.
So this is definitely much better than loosing all Data when not using caching and your SSD finally fails.
With our caching, when SSD fails the System will simply fallback to work on the HDD only.
